Composing images



A game based workshop for experimenting the rules of visual language. Participants use the cards of My Photography Toolbox to analyse existing pictures and to create their own photographs.
This activating method is an eye-opener in visual literacy for both the beginner and the practitioner.

Eyes and Shots: Creating Visual Suspense


A technique to turn words into images in search of multiple literary meanings.
The workshop is based on: deep script reading and analysis; planning shots with vectors and directing actors.

Direct, plan and shoot a scene in which the subtext is displayed and understood without words.The outcome is a visual plan with shots and vectors, and the resulting produced and edited scene.
Be able to communicate the tension and the subtext in the script.
Film and audiovisual makers.
FORMAT: 26 to 30 hours
3 hours theory, 3 hours reading and analyzing, 6 hours planning and preparation, 4 hours rehearsal, 3 hours shooting, 4 hours editing, 3 hours screening and conclusions.

Self-disclosure Documentary

What insights can you give about your world? What stories that matter? What images that touch? Self awareness, critical thinking + different documentary styles and authors are used for the decision making of the students about the film they are ready to write.

Think of your Audience: Pitching & Presenting

Pressure Cook Course on how to prepare and construct a convincing, very personal presentation. In this workshop participants describe and show their concepts using their abilities and personality traits without mimicring standards. By using the ‘concept-format’ they explore each part of their idea in order to re-construct the design and the research done.

Finding your best and personal way of expression (visual, oral, gestual...) to avoid the fear of performing. Learning how to structure your ideas with the right concepts/ wording.
Good communication skills in a public setting
All types of students, designers and professionals.

Short pitch by the lecturer, discussion, funny examples, main priciples, role play, 1 minute pitch by the attendants, peer feedback.


A playful effective activity for group cohesion. Designed to help group members know each other and connect in an open way. The sensory friendly game Lost Prince by PonsVerhoog is the tool for introducing each other or changing group dynamics.

The game can be used to improve radars and listening skills, acquire confidence, release tension, obtain new perspectives, eliminate prejudices, practice fast and grounded decision-making. After the game play, the group is directed to analyse, compare and reflect on the experience.

Basic tools for screen-writing

While learning the broad origins of ideas, the concepts of originality, intertextuality, adaptation, interpretation and recycling, the students open their minds to the fact that there are many techniques to come up with ideas. Developing them with narrative or expressive purposes is a harder work. Students use a customized deck of cards to learn how to deconstruct a number of creative processes and experiment some by themselves.

Outcome: a structured document with the basic story for a film.

Practicing the basic topics on screen writing by freely combining elements.

Critical Response


When was the last time that you had an idea and you had such good feedback that allowed you to implement it?

In a world in which the gesture of a click entitles us as voters and the same action towards what we publish gives us more or less presence/ importance, giving a reflected-critical response is more and more scarce.

This workshop trains the participants to ground and organize their impressions and thoughts in structured way, with a clear purpose, a proper style always based on the status of the work and on the idea of helping the creator to gain new perspectives.

GOAL: Learn how to give proper feedback.

COMPETENCES: Understand a maker’s purpose and contribute with a critical response.

ADDRESSED TO: Makers and designers, journalists and professionals interested in writing reviews.

FORMAT: 10 hours.

2 hour theory, 2 hour fast creation activity and analysis, 2 hour screening and debate, 1 hour tool presentation, 3 hour pitches preparation, presentations, use of the tool and conclusions.
