Work in progress

A project that plays with the concepts of: dictionary, taxonomy, category. A tool for image makers intending to stay critical.
The research on visual language started when needing a method to show students that theory and practice are not separate entities. Diving into the characteristics of play and game mechanics, we designed My Photography Toolbox. An adaptation for children followed.
In a world where we are unknowingly ready to read sequences of images with the logic of their syntax, we should acknowledge the ways to use this grammar since primary education. This is our reason for continuing doing research on how to communicate with images.
The last derived is this “Taxonomy”, a work in process designed like a cheat sheet in a color chart. It contains the components we’ve been collecting from the literature and from our practice, with more than 60 units.
